Binh Danh: Works from 2006–2024
September 26, 2024 – February 23, 2025

In conjunction with ICA San José’s fall Benefit and Art Auction, the ICA presents a condensed retrospective of Binh Danh’s work, featuring sixteen pieces spanning chlorophyll-based organic works, community projects, daguerreotypes, and recent portraits on decorative plates, recently shown at FotoFest Houston.

Danh is known for his innovative use of early photographic processes, particularly daguerreotypes created in a mobile darkroom he calls Louis. Traveling across the American West, he produces one-of-a-kind, in-camera images on silver plates, blending nineteenth-century photographic techniques with his perspective as a Vietnamese American. The reflective surfaces of his daguerreotypes engage viewers, connecting them to the landscapes and histories he explores.
