Adrian Burrell: Sugarcane and Lightning pt 3

Sugarcane and Lightning pt 3 is the first solo exhibition of Adrian Burrell, featuring all-new commissioned mixed-media installations, photographs, and a film exploring place, memory, and ritual. The work draws on his family’s untold history in New Iberia, Louisiana, using oral histories, photography, and archival materials to illuminate acts of Black resistance and challenge historical erasure.

The exhibition reflects on memory, lineage, and collective reckoning, questioning how race and racism shaped history and how visual culture can reveal untold stories.
